Ralph Gracie’s Case on Assaulting Flavio Almeida Ends Without an Agreement
After a long break due to the novel coronavirus, the assault case of Ralph Gracie on a member of Gracie Barra, Flávio Almeida , returned to the court in Orange County, California (USA), on Tuesday 22th of September.
According to information obtained by TATAME Magazine with Gracie Barra lawyers, Fernanda Freixinho and Daniel Raizman, Ralph Gracie remains prohibited from leaving the United States and the aim of the hearing was an attempt at an agreement before the trial.
The deal consisted of imposing a $ 50,000 fine, six months in prison, three years on probation. However, Ralph’s defense questioned the custodial sentence, which is why the deal has not been sanctioned. Accordingly, the American justice has scheduled a new hearing for the end of October.

Remember the case:
Ralph was accused of assaulting Flávio Almeida, of Gracie Barra, during the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds in December 2018. In a video posted on the internet during the confusion, it is possible to see Gracie throwing an elbow in the face of Almeida, while the two watched a match taking place at the event.
At the time, Gracie Barra stated that the “feud” between the two was older and Ralph would have “threatened” Flávio to “not open gyms in his territory” in the United States. In the aggression, Flávio suffered a seizure and lost some teeth, having even released a photo afterwards without his incisor teeth.
